Change Jobs. Changes Everything.

Tags: ,

Getting a new job has opened up a whole new world to me.

Where It Stops, Nobody Knows.

More importantly, it’s opened up a whole new world for a bunch of other people.

I never imagined the chain reaction that takes place when one person accepts a new position.

I leave.

Someone replaces me.

Then someone has to replace them.

Another person will take that job, which opens up yet another position.

And so on.  And so on.

And so on.

It’s amazing when you think about it (not that anyone does but me).

There are even chain reactions with the people who surround you.

When you start a new job there will be instances when you have to hire new people to fill open positions.

And this starts a whole different set of chain reactions.

It’s a giant game of musical jobs.

All because one person changed where they work.

And it didn’t start with me.  Someone had to leave my new position for it to become available.

And someone else left the position they just took.

Even before that, a third person must have gone somewhere for that job to be open.

And this may happen a hundred times before the effects trickle down to you.

I think.

Actually, now I’m just confused.

But I do know what one person does has a huge impact on lots of other people.

Even more than we’ll ever know.

Kind of like being a teacher or a school administrator.

@Melinda, The Evil Spawn and I are teaming up.

    One school district.

    Both of us enter.

    One will survive.

    I’m guessing it won’t be me. ;)

Deep thought of the day Michael. Never really thought about it like that. I have some things I’m working on now and you just gave me pause to ponder. That’s a good thing. I like things that stir the brain.

Interesting way of looking at getting a new job. I’ll have more to post but I have to wait for the person in front of me to move on to another post so I can post here which will allow someone to post when I am done then someone can post after that………..LOL

    And the cycle begins! :)

@Marc, Now that made me laugh out loud.

    Thanks.

I have known this for a while now. I am currently looking for my first principal job.(for the second season) I realize that now is Superintendent hiring time and hopefully some principal with big aspirations gets hired so I can take their job.

Congrats Michael! Although I have to say that I am somewhat shocked that you are going to be in the same school district as the evil spawn by choice! And isn’t your wife in that school district, too? You might be into overload!

I must have been dozing at the back of the class. You have a new job?? Let me guess – won’t be higher office (I have no idea what a superintendent does but there can’t be anything higher), won’t be in the private sector (once you’ve worked as a teacher there is no way into the executive wash room)…maybe writing (what am I thinking!!). Dunno – you don’t say career change so it must be sideways.

Do tell do tell or do I have to go back and read some earlier blogs?

PS Life in the desert continues apace – a camel ride has left me bent double and waddling in a most unattractive manner.

Oops – another thought – now I guess you can get rid of that nerdy blog title with the missing apostrophe!!
