PrincipalsPage by Michael Smith
About: Education, Life, and the Issues of the Day.
Michael Smith is currently a school superintendent after spending many years as a teacher, coach, and principal.
In his spare time he is a writer and humorist (of course, this is just his opinion). His blog, “PrincipalsPage.com the Blog” has over 10,000 visitors a month. Readers come from all 50 states and 147 countries (August 1-October 7, 2009).
This is an education column that makes readers feel good about education, students, teachers, and administrators.
“PrincipalsPage by Michael Smith” tackles issues that affect schools, parents, and students. It’s written for parents, grandparents, teachers, and yes, even school administrators. While it is centered on education, it’s also about family life.
He is the only working K-12 Superintendent who is writing about these topics in this fashion. The column is not just about education based on theories, but his present day life experiences – often with a touch of humor.
And some sarcasm. Lots and lots of sarcasm.
The tone of the column gives readers the idea that “Educators need to take their jobs seriously, but not themselves”.
